For Immediate Release: This strategic appointment reinforces our commitment to specialized treatment in OCD, Trauma, Mood and Substance Use Disorders for Maryland residents.

Wednesday, September 25, Silver Spring, Maryland – Compass Health Center is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Chad Wetterneck as the Senior Vice President of Clinical Development and Excellence. With over two decades of distinguished leadership and expertise in mental health care, Dr. Wetterneck will play a pivotal role in advancing Compass Health Center’s clinical training programs and in strengthening the delivery of specialized care to patients throughout the region.

Dr. Wetterneck is a faculty member for the International Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Foundation's Behavioral Therapy Training Institute (BTTI) and has been a distinguished leader in the fields of OCD and trauma treatment and is a certified trainer in Functional Analytic Psychotherapy. Throughout his career, Dr. Wetterneck has authored more than 95 peer-reviewed articles and delivered hundreds of professional presentations. His work has earned him prestigious awards, including the Baylor College of Medicine Research Award and Marquette University’s Outstanding Educator in Counseling Award.  He is widely recognized as a leading expert in researching and treating complex mental health conditions in adolescents and adults, with a focus on serving multicultural and diverse populations.

Dr. Wetterneck’s appointment comes as Compass Health Center plans to strengthen its presence in Maryland and introduce its expertise and virtual programming across Virginia and the broader DMV region. By deepening its focus on evidence-based, data-driven mental healthcare, particularly in the treatment of OCD, trauma, and mood and substance use disorders (MHSUD), Compass Health Center is poised to expand its reach and impact.

“It has been an honor to serve hundreds of patients and families since we opened our doors a year ago. The community’s call for expanded support and specialized programs for OCD, anxiety, and trauma has been clear. With Dr. Wetterneck’s proven leadership and expertise in delivering personalized care to both adolescents and adults, we are more aligned than ever with our mission to offer immediate, accessible, and specialized treatment for individuals and families facing mental health challenges,” said David Schreiber, MD, CEO and Co-Founder of Compass Health Center.

Like much of the country, Maryland’s mental health is in crisis, with 27.3% of adults reporting symptoms of depression and/or anxiety disorder, according to KFF Health. Maryland has some of the nation’s longest emergency room wait times, averaging four hours for medical needs and even days for mental health challenges. What’s more, Marylanders suffer from extended waiting periods for psychiatric services with children, adolescents and adults in crisis often left waiting for services. According to the International OCD Foundation, 1 in 40 adults experience OCD in our country, often requiring specialized treatment.

"Access to timely, personalized, and evidence-based treatment is essential in mental health care. I am thrilled to join Compass Health Center and contribute to its mission of transforming lives through high-quality care," said Dr. Wetterneck. "Together, we will continue to strengthen the reach of our services, enhance positive health outcomes, and meet the needs of patients and their families across the region."
